Chapter History

The Herbert H. Lehman College Golden Key Chapter believes in the values of community, commitment and camaraderie as well as the Golden Key pillars of Academics, Leadership and Service. The Herbert H. Lehman College chapter was chartered in 1986, as part of U.S region 1, which includes schools in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.

With more than 4500 members since it was chartered in 1986 as the 86th Golden Key chapter, the Herbert H. Lehman College chapter has served as a melting pots of great minds, student leaders and individuals who have gone on to achieve greatness in their respective fields. Golden Key members have for many years been an integral part of the Lehman College, Bronx, and City University of New York (CUNY) communities, and have gone on to serve in numerous student leadership positions like the Lehman College Student Government, and the CUNY University Student Senate.

Since 2008, when the CUNY -Malave Leadership Academy was founded, members of Lehman’s Golden Key chapter have always been among the 25 students chosen every year from the 500,000 students at CUNY, to partake in year-long leadership seminars and hands-on community service projects.
